A famous statement says: “Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words can never hurt me.” This cliche ́statement is catchy, but it isn’t true. Sticks and stones bring temporary pain, but words can hurt for a lifetime. Words can hurt us. Words can haunt us. Words can consume our minds. Sticks and stones can break bones, but words can break hearts. Through this series, we will discover the power of our words through the book of Proverbs, a book of the Bible filled with wisdom to help God's people become wise.
Week 1: Your words can either hurt or heal - use yours to heal.
Week 2: Honesty should be foundational to your behaviour.
Week 3: Share kindness, not rumours.
Week 4: Handle anger in a way that's helpful: Delay, Step Away, Pray, and Convey.
Our words have the power to make a difference, and we are responsible for any word that we say. As followers of Jesus, we should always do our best to ensure our words are healing, truthful, kind and encouraging so that our words glorify God in everything we say. Join us as we learn to powerfully use our words for good.
If you are a Grade 6 or 7 student, we welcome you to join our worship program, 9:15-10:20 am on Saturday, at Fraserview MB Church. Please register through this LINK and our staff will get in touch with you within a week.
