John 20:1-29, Ephesians 1:15-23

The Day after Good Friday

  • The day after Good Friday was a day when literally not one person in the world believed Jesus was alive.
  • It seems like nothing happened and there was complete silence.
  • Without their master, the disciples had no more TO-Do list.
  • Saturday has become a “no-way-out” moment

Our Saturday Experience

  • Saturday is the day our dreams die.
  • We cry out to God but there is only silence.
  • We ask: what if the rest of my life is just an eternal Saturday?
  • What if: there is never going to be a Sunday.
  • What if - Sunday never comes?

Good News: Sunday did come (John 20:1-29)

  • After Jesus’ death, all the followers were all in a loss.
  • At Easter, Jesus appeared and revealed to them:
    • Mary saw the Lord
    • The disciples saw the Lord
    • Thomas met with the risen Lord

Easter was not just a Private Gathering (Ephesians 1:15-23)

  • Easter was not just a private event reserved only for Jesus and the disciples.
  • Paul prayed that God will enable the church to know His power toward those who believe.
  • It is the power that God exerted in Christ, and raised Him from dead on Easter
  • The power shown in resurrecting Jesus at Easter is the same power that God gives to the church.
  • We are challenged to live in the victory of the power of resurrection.

Easter: The Sunday that changed everything

  • The gospel story did not end on a Saturday
  • Life is no longer an eternal Saturday
  • Jesus’ resurrection has brought us new possibilities and beginnings in life.
