One of the last groups of people that Jesus met before he went to the cross was the Pharisees and the chief priests. They were the ones that wanted to crucify Jesus.
Why do they want to get rid of Jesus? (John 18-19)
- They saw Jesus as a threat
- They saw their lives to be comfortable and great as it
- The Son of God challenges their way of life - their authority, wealth, power
While some see Jesus as a threat to life, Jesus declares himself to be the source of life. (John 15)
- He is the True Vine
- Apart from Him we can do nothing
- If we connect/ live in him, His love and His joy will be in us
