1 John 1:5-9, 3:4-8

I am a Christian but I cannot stop sinning.

  • I call myself a Christian, but I still keep sinning.
  • I told myself: it's okay as I am only human
  • I thought God gives us freedom to choose what to do

Why do I willfully sin?

  • I want it, and I want it now.
  • Everyone is doing it, so I will do it too.
  • I don't think I will get caught, so I do it.

You are either in the light or in the darkness.

  • The reality is: there is no in-between.
  • You are either a child of God or a child of the devil.
  • As a child of God, our actions should reflect our Father in heaven.

What can I do?

  • Confess
    • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
    • To allow our whole life to be exposed to the light.
  • Renounce
    • Renounce = to refuse to follow
    • We need to renounce the hold that sin has on us.
    • To walk away from darkness and walk into the light.
