Ruth 1-4

Three Reversals in the Book of Ruth

  • From Loss to Gain
  • From No King to a New King
  • From King of Israel to the King of Kings

The Providence of God

  • Behind all the unexpected and tragic moments in life, there is one unchanging factor: the Providence of God
  • In those challenging times, God still rules over all things. He still sustains and provides for all things
  • In such an age of chaos and darkness, God did not abandon the two insignificant widows

Concurrence

  • Within the doctrine of divine providence, there is an important element called Concurrence
  • It reminds us that divine activity runs parallel to the activity of people and things.
  • Under the divine province, God did not just invent a bunch of robots, humans do have a role in partnering with God.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good
to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
