Hannah’s story from 1 Samuel 1:1-20 reminds us of a timeless truth: We don’t need to clean ourselves up or pretend everything is fine when we come before God. We can bring our tears, pain, and questions and lay them all at His feet.
God is Jireh—our Provider.
Through years of barrenness, Hannah endured immense pain and public shame. Peninnah’s taunts only deepened her sorrow. Yet, in her desperation, Hannah turned to God with raw honesty. She poured out her heart in the temple, refusing to hide her anguish. God saw her, heard her cry, and in His perfect timing, provided her with a son. Samuel became one of Israel’s greatest prophets, showing how Hannah’s faith played a vital role in God’s larger redemptive plan.
Hannah’s story teaches us profound lessons: our tears are never wasted, surrender leads to breakthrough, and God’s plans are always greater than ours. Just as Hannah trusted God in her pain, we are invited to come as we are, knowing He sees, hears, and provides.
As a church, let’s be a community where no one waits or weeps alone. Together, let’s trust God’s providence, lifting one another up in faith and hope as we anticipate the day we stand before Him in glory, singing, “Forever He shall reign.”
