Who is God? What is He like? How and where can we go and find out more about Him? What we think of when we think of God is the most defining question in our life as it is the one answer that determines every other answer to every other question in our lives. Since God is invisible and sometimes mysterious, “who is God?” sometimes feels like a tough question to answer. Fortunately, Jesus, the Word, shows us the thoughts and intentions of God’s heart. And as we read the Bible, the book of John, we will discover who God is, what He came to do, and what it means to follow Jesus. Through the next 6 weeks, we will be looking at the words and actions of Jesus as told by John, and learn that in Jesus we have the power to:
- know God;
- stop hiding and live in the light;
- go through the tough time in life with a friend who gets it;
- trust God and not have to rely only on our own strength;
- receive a love that’s greater than we could ever fully understand.
How we live our lives, our words and actions reveal the truth about who we are on the inside. Therefore, this fundamental question not only defines our lives but also shapes how we find and see the purpose of our lives. We were made to have an eternal relationship with God who loves us beyond our understanding and gives us purpose. A life in relationship with Jesus is a life that has purpose — a life with a plan and a place to go. It leads us to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. All this is what Jesus’s life reveals to us in the book of John: Jesus is the answer, the light of the world, and the way to find life and purpose. If you are in Grades 6-9 and looking for a church, we invite you to join our Youth Online Worship every Saturday at 9:15am. You can register using this link.
