Romans 8:35-39, 2 Timothy 4:16-18

MESSAGE SUMMARY

It is only natural that we want to protect and shield our children from all pain and suffering.
Some parents try to ensure that their child avoids going through pain and suffering, some choose to deny the emotion of pain and suffering.
While some try to medicate the child through the pain and suffering with distractions.
When protecting them is taken too far, it causes them to crumble in face of pain and suffering.
So as parents who love our children what can we do?

Paul is someone who had been through alot, and we look at his letter to see how he encourages others who are going through pain and suffering.
In Romans 8:35-39, Paul provides us with a good foundation.
Paul is certain about God’s love and presence in his life, no matter what happens.
He is sure that nothing will be able to separate us from God.
The certainty that Paul has comes from the fact that he knows God loves us and nothing in creation can overcome.

Paul also shares his testimony with us in 2 Timothy 4:16-18.
Even when he was deserted and alone, he was still able to face all that because he knows who is with him.
God is with him, and it was God who strengthened him and sustained him.
It is also God who rescues him from all things.
Paul’s confidence in God comes from God’s love for us that is shown when Jesus came to save up.

From Paul’s experiences, we can learn from God in how He was with Paul and helped Paul.
We too can be present for our children and the next generation.
Through our presence let them feel God’s presence.
Let us raise a generation of overcomers together.
