Hi Youths,
A lot of times we don't notice how the gospel relates to self-care. This week we learned that true and healthy self-care means putting our relationship with God as our first priority. When we put God and the gospel as our top priority, we are putting our spiritual needs first like Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11 who showed us that truly caring for our physical needs means first truly caring for our spiritual needs.
Exercise, sleep, hobbies, or eating are good but what your body needs above all else is the gospel of Jesus Christ. When you put the gospel as your first priority you will start to notice how your relationship with God will guide and positively affect all of your other priorities like your physical health, school or your relationship with friends and family. Self-care is good when it is under the umbrella of the gospel, our relationship with God. Imagine if we are practicing self-care under the rain, without the umbrella we are actually not taking care of ourselves.
This week try to reorder your priorities and start putting your relationship with Jesus first and see how having Jesus as your first priority can transform your life. If Jesus is your first priority, you may start and end your day with a prayer. You will prepare yourself to attend Youth Worship. You will see Youth Worship time as your best time of the week because you are spending time with God.
