Hi Youths,
Pursuing pleasure might feel like self-care, but the Bible tells us that true self-care isn’t pursuing fleeting pleasures that give you happiness only for a short time and then goes away. God's Word tells us He wants us to pursue something that's the best and lasts forever: joy. Joy comes out of the overflow of a relationship with Jesus and when you pursue j.o.y, you will put Jesus first, then others and then yourself. Remember, God isn't saying for us not to have any pleasures like video games, Netflix or social media. He wants to remind us to think of what is best for us for all of eternity, not just for right now.
This week, instead of thinking only about the now, try to start thinking about the future and see if there are any differences in how you view fleeting pleasures and joy which come from our relationship with Jesus.
