MESSAGE SUMMARY
The Church of Laodicea
“I know your works. You are neither hot nor cold. So because you are lukewarm I will spit you out of my mouth,” (v15-16)
The church of Laodicea was like the water they always have – Lukewarm!
The church was neither cold nor hot and was totally ineffective.
The Laodiceans did not give Jesus their all.
They lacked the wholeheartedness for Jesus.
And it made Jesus sick.
Lukewarmness
It is the nature of lukewarmness to be unaware that it is lukewarm.
Jesus speaks bluntly to His church to break the illusion.
“For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.” (v17)
The church boasted about their spiritual riches.
They did not know they were poor, blind and naked.
Jesus is outside
We have excluded Jesus from part of our lives.
Jesus is outside.
The good news is Jesus moves towards us, the wretched church.
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him.” (v20)
Hope comes by repenting.
Jesus is outside at our door, knocking over and over again and waiting with the hope that we will repent and rekindled our hearts back to Him.
Rekindle our hearts to Jesus by letting Him into our lives
God wants to change us; He died so that we could change.
He wants to come back into our hearts as the lover of our soul and as our Lord.
Jesus’s counsel to the lukewarm church in Laodicea was not to try harder, but rather to let Him in.
Jesus is knocking at your door.
Will you let Him in?
