Koinonia is a visionary church

– Koinonia was started by visionaries.
– It is being built by visionaries.
– It will continue to attract visionaries to join.

(A) Visionaries see things not as they are but as they can be

– Visionaries think in 5-7 year time frames (or even longer)
– Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven similarly. (Matthew 12:31-32)
– The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree.

The Koinonia Vision – the mustard seed that God has put into our hands in 2006

1. Biblical teaching that is relevant and practical
2. Worship that leads people to encounter God
3. Small groups that enable Christians to love one another
4. Children ministry that makes disciples
5. Contagious lifestyle that demonstrates the transforming power of the gospel
6. Generous giving that blesses the society
7. Pastoral team that leads by a God-given vision

(B) Visionaries follow a roadmap to move people to the future

– Piece by piece, ministry by ministry, strategy by strategy, with God’s help and a lot of discipline, we have built Koinonia to be the church she is today.

The Next 10 Years (2017-2027)

1. Become a bilingual & multiethnic congregation
2. Guide youths to become leaders and disciples
3. Invite families to church through Karpos
4. Develop passionate worshippers through KMA
5. Nurture a generous and caring community
6. Prepare for Lead Pastoral Team succession
7. Secure a venue as ministry base
+ Everyone: Life transformation by God in community

The Koinonia Ministry Centre Development Plan

– We are looking for an 8000 square feet office space to be called the Koinonia Ministry Center to replace our two offices.
– We have launched a pledging campaign to raise $800,000 for this project.
– We want to secure a pledge of $800,000 by January 2019.
– Please visit our webpage for more detail.

(C) Visionaries take measured risks

– Over time the biggest risk you can take is not to take any risk at all.
– Jesus tells this parable. (Matthew 13:44)
– The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his JOY he goes and sells ALL that he has and buys that field.

What do you see?

– Ordinary people see things as they are (2018). But we see things as they can be in 2027.
– Ordinary people see a school. We see a sanctuary.
– Ordinary people see desolation. We see treasure waiting to be unearthed, right here, at the heart of Richmond.
