2 Timothy 2:1-6; 4:1-5

There is only one kind of attitude when we are on board of a cruise ship, which is called an “Enjoyment Attitude”, because our purpose on board is to enjoy. We are on vacation and we are not supposed to do anything but enjoy a good time there.

It is totally alright when we have this attitude during our cruise vacation, but not when we are going to church.

The church is not a cruise ship and Christians are not a group of passengers having their vacation on board. The church should be a battleship and Christians are a band of soldiers sailing to the open water to fulfill their duties. We have a mission to fulfill.

Do you know the mission of the church?
Do you care how the church achieve her mission?

There is one core mission for the church. We are called to be the salt and light of the world. Our mission is to bring the good news of Jesus to people around us so that they can experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

In order to fulfill this mission, we need to cultivate endurance. We need patience to overcome all sorts of challenges, in order to continue fighting till we celebrate the final victory.

Christians are like soldiers, athletes, and farmers, who endure difficulties and challenges during the process. They anticipate the final result and they are certain what they will receive at the very end. Their hope of being part of the final victory give them strength to endure.

Endurance is supported by a vivid Hope.

KEC is not a cruise ship, but a battleship. We are not passengers simply looking for enjoyment. We are soldiers who can endure hardships in the process of following Jesus.

If you know what you are going to receive at the very end, are you able to endure the present moment?
Can you endure challenges with us in this process of building up the church?
Can you endure to fulfill your mission as the salt and light of the world?
