Family is supposed to be a place of love, safety, security, and more. For the past two years, most of us have probably spent more time with our families than normal due to the Coronavirus. While it is great spending time with our loved ones, we probably also noticed the increased tension and conflicts among our family members. So, what are the differences between our family and God's family? What can we learn from God's family and how can we restore our family relationships?
Through looking at family relationships through the lens of the gospel, the youth will learn that:
- In addition to our families, we have a perfect Heavenly Father and we are all part of His family.
- Forgiveness is the foundation to restore a family relationship.
- Pride destroys, but humility builds good and healthy family relationships.
- Families are not meant to meet all our expectations but our Heavenly Father does.
In the gospel, we discover that although our earthly family is important, we also belong to God’s family first and foremost and so when we see our family relationships through the gospel lens, it’ll influence our ability to forgive, remain humble, and set the appropriate expectations for what our families provide for us.
