Holy Holy Holy (Worthy are You God)
Music By John B. Dykes; Lyrics By Reginald Heber; Chorus by Milton Ho @KEC Worship
Background
We are living in the middle of an apocalypse - a pandemic
The way we interact, work, shop and do almost everything else has been dramatically changed.
The stock market and the global economy are in free-fall.
The world is getting out of control
You are stressed, anxious and you wonder "Who is in control?"
Right now it is this invisible thing called Coronavirus that is ruling us like a king.
This is the new reality.
Who is in control?
One of the premises in the Book of Revelation: “Things are not only as they seem. There is more to reality than the unaided senses.” ~ Daryl Johnson
So the question is: "Who is in control?"
This question is not unique to us. The early church at the time of the writing of the Revelation was facing the same question. Who is in control when the church is facing prosecution and Christians are being killed and persecuted?
John taught us in Revelation 4:1 a very important word: "Look! Behold!"
Look! There is someone sitting on the throne! (Revelation 4:2) There is actually someone in control!
Look! Even chaos and all that is evil is subdued in front of God, smooth as glass, clear as Crystal. This is so important - God is in control in the midst of our chaotic world. (Revelation 4:5-6)
We should use this time to sharpen our senses, because things are not what they seem like.
Look at the needs of those around us and see how we can help each other and support each other.
Reflect on the value and mission of your life and your family. Because this is a God-given opportunity for all Christians to be the light in a dark world. To offer hope when all the world can see is despair and worry and anxiety.
Who is Worthy to open the Scroll in God's hand?
There is a scroll in the right hand of God. Is there someone worthy to open the scroll, not just to reveal God’s master plan, but to carry it out as well? (Revelation 5:1-2)
Jesus Christ, a slain lamb is perfectly wise and extremely powerful to be worthy to open the scroll. (Revelation 5:5-7)
God is on the throne and Jesus, the lamb that was slain and resurrected is now at the very centre of the throne.
His people and his creation are surrounding the throne worshipping; the whole universe and all the creatures on Earth and angels are all singing and praising because Jesus is worthy. (Revelation 5:8-14)
This reality is surreal but we as citizens of God’s kingdom have access to that reality when we worship.
Participate in an Ongoing Worship of the Slain Lamb
Because of this virus outbreak, we are now sitting in front of a screen and we miss seeing and interacting with one another in person.
We as citizens of the kingdom of God need to sing our praises to proclaim that even chaos and evil are nothing in front of God’s throne because God is always in control.
We are facing unprecedented times and we need music and praise now more than ever.
Physical isolation is so crucial at this moment but it is just as important to connect and we can make connection through our worship.
Christians have been doing this for thousands of years in time of peace and of course in times like this.
Let's sing and join the ongoing worship of the Slain Lamb Jesus Christ!
