Holy Holy Holy (Worthy are You God)
Music By John B. Dykes; Lyrics By Reginald Heber; Chorus by Milton Ho @KEC Worship
Why are we doing a sermon series on the book of Revelation?
- Because it’s more relevant than ever before
The core message of this book is a question and an answer:
The Question: “Who is your Lord and King?”
- This is relevant because it’s getting harder and harder to answer this question as a Christian
- There is outside pressure from politics powers
- There is outside pressure from worldly chaos
- There is inside pressure from cultural temptations
The Answer: Jesus Christ is THE King of kings
- Presented in an apocalyptic literature
Define: Apocalypse: “Open”, “Breaking Through”
- Book of Revelation = Apocalypse of Jesus Christ = Opening of Jesus Christ
Book of Revelation seeks to do two things
- Set the present in light of the unseen realities of the future
- Set the present in light of the invisible realities of the present
First scene, prologue (Revelation 1:9-20)
Vision of Jesus
- Clothing = Priest and King
- Hair like white wool = Holiness, perfection
- Eyes like fire = Purifying, cleansing, all-knowing
- Feet like burnished bronze = Kingship endures forever
- Voice like many waters = Overwhelming, all-powerful
- Sharp two-edged sword from mouth = Words have power
- Face like sun = brilliance, magnificence
Where is Jesus? What does this vision have to do with me?
- Jesus is presently in the middle of His churches
- He is present with you and me, NOW
The heavenly curtains are open, the heavenly drama is revealed to you.
The heavenly protagonist, the perfect Son of man is knocking on your door.
You won’t see the apocalypse if you don’t open.
Jesus is knocking, will you open?
- Open the heart of your door by setting an attitude of reverence, devotion and desire
