Luke 2:1-14
A Saviour is Born

What Christmas is all about?

When our culture is taking Christ out of Christmas, we go back to the Bible to discover the true meaning of Christmas. The angel announced to the shepherds "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11)

To Know

  1. Those who seek the Lord will find him. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8)
  2. Those who find Jesus will give Him glory and honour and praise. When the shepherds saw Jesus, they made known to others about this good news and they gave glory and praise to God. (Luke 2:20)

To Do

  1. Our students are encouraged to share the good news of Christmas by making bookmarks and give them to others.
  2. Praying "The Christmas Prayer" by Robert Louis Stevenson:

Loving Father,

Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Your children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.
