God's love

  • Jesus came and died for us.
  • The fact that Jesus died on the cross is the proof that God loves us.
  • Even though some of us knows that the action of Jesus dying on the cross shows that God loves us, it is still hard to accept because we might feel that we do not deserve it.
  • There is a voice of doubt in us that causes is to think that Jesus died for anyone, but me.

Paul's declaration

  • Paul tells us that he is someone who committed the worst possible sins, yet Jesus died for him.
  • Paul was active in the persecution of Christians.
  • He took the initiative to get authorization to do that.
  • Paul approved the killing of Stephen.
  • Each and every of his action before he met Jesus showed that he was the number one enemy of Christians.
  • Paul knows that he is the worst sinner, he is the foremost. Yet he knows that Jesus died for someone like him. And it was done so because God loves us while we were still sinners.
  • Paul explains that this subjective experience of God’s love is grounded on the objective act of Jesus dying on the cross.

Not me but Him in me.

  • Paul tells us that when Christ died for us, our old self has died too.
  • And with that it is a new me.
  • The new me is Christ who lives in me and not who I live.
  • Focus on God's love, use that as a reminder to battle and to combat the voice of self doubt.
