John 13:1-15

What makes you stay with a church? Some of us, it is our comfort level.  We may want a church that serves us well and makes us comfortable. We want to be able to sit there being served with the highest quality of music, message and worship experience.

Unfortunately, we may easily get frustrated.  Out of discontent, we may start to drift away.

Holy Discontent Leads People into Action

Holy discontent as mentioned last week, does not draw you to yourself but to God.  It draws you into action. Just as Jesus’ story in John 13, Jesus called His disciples to follow Him and get their hands dirty, as He did.

Jesus’ feet washing

Out of His love to His people, Jesus stepped out of the boundary. He also stepped out of His tradition. With great humility, He took on the role of a servant and washed the disciples’ feet.

At the end, he said, “ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14).

Follow Me into My service

He called His disciples to follow His model, stepping out of their comfort zones and serve others with love in humility.

Jesus’ invitation is an invitation into His serving ministry.

Today, as part of His body, we takes this invitation seriously.  We believe it is through serving we learn to take up Jesus’ image.  We believe it is through serving, we show His love to our community.

Reflective Questions:

1.Do you want more of Christ? Are you ready to take part in His ministry?
2.Come, serve with us, wash each other’s feet. We invite you to be part of our team.
