Reaching Out Campaign: Support Richmond Food Bank

Since 1983, the Richmond Food Bank has been providing community assistance in Richmond. Starting with just over 20 families being served, the number has grown, and now each week, around 2,800 individuals and families rely on the Food Bank. The emergency food provided has also reached 20,000 pounds. Today, over 180 volunteers serve each week at the Richmond Food Bank, alongside additional volunteers from various community groups.

This year, KEC decided to support the Richmond Food Bank. We hope that through their professional service, God's provision to the church will become a blessing to more people.

KEC Continues to Support the Construction of Richmond Hospital's New Tower

Richmond Hospital will be adding a new nine-floor acute care tower — the Yurkovich Family Pavilion. This tower will include an intensive care unit, a fully equipped medical imaging department, a pharmacy, and a short-stay pediatric ward. This addition will provide Richmond, a city with a growing and aging population, with the acute care services it needs for the future. The total cost of the project is 1.959 billion USD, and construction is expected to officially begin in 2026.

This year, our Reaching Out Campaign will continue to support Richmond Hospital.

Our youths are also Reaching Out

In the past December, a group of sixth and seventh-grade students, in response to the teaching of Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,” took an extra step and organized an outreach event to help local homeless people through the cold winter.

During the youth worship group sessions, the students made "Care Packages" for the homeless. With the help of the WillGO organization, they distributed the care packages to the homeless at the Vancouver Eastside on December 14th.

Each Care Package includes a pair of gloves, thick socks, a heating pack, toothpaste and a toothbrush, along with cookies and a heartfelt card, which the students had carefully drawn. On that day, we distributed a total of 40 Care Packages. We hope to bring some comfort to the homeless during the cold winter.

KEC received the Community Fundraiser Award

For many years, KEC has continually supported various relief and care efforts at Richmond Hospital. In addition to supporting the development of different departments within the hospital, such as the resumption of surgical operations, the development of the medical imaging center, and providing support during COVID by helping the hospital purchase ventilators, this year, we have also participated in funding the construction of the new acute care tower. During May, we were honored to receive the Community Fundraiser Award from the Richmond Hospital Foundation. This award recognizes Ge Lin’s contributions to the Richmond community, as well as the generosity and commitment of the Ge Lin brothers and sisters in community care. For this, we give all glory to our God.
