The Prophet Malachi was believed to be in the same generation of Ezra and Nehemiah, because they faced similar social issues. It is believed that the Book of Malachi was written around 475 to 450 BC.
Malachi accused the Israelites of despising their covenant with God and the Torah. He also found fault in their worship. Their relationship with God was lack of piety. He challenged the remnants to rekindle their relationship with God and offer their best to God.
Another issue in Malachi was about those who were loyal to God, who doubted about God’s fairness in dealing with God’s people and their enemies. For those people, Malachi reassured them with the reality of the divine judgment, His love to the people and the Messianic promise.
