In the history of Israel, the story of crossing the Red Sea is probably the most well-known. Rather than being the finale, the story of Israel enter a new chapter through exodus.
After they left Egypt, the Lord renewed His covenant with Israel. They became God’s chosen people and started their journey of faith. In the wilderness, God led them and shaped them, prepared them for the Promised Land. It was not an easy journey. There were hardships and moments of doubt. They struggled with their faith, even rebelled against God. However, the Lord did not let them go. He has been faithful with them, even at the lowest point of their lives.
Similarly, every Christian is also on a journey of faith. There will be times when we face difficulties and struggles. How do Israelites’ stories encourage us to follow God courageously and faithfully, until we reach our Promised Land?
Exodus was the story of Israelites escaping from enslavement. After Joseph passed away, the population of Israelite kept expanding and became a threat to the Pharaoh. In order to prevent the Israelites from gaining power, the Egyptians controlled them through slavery.
God heard the pain of His people and He remembered (Exodus 2: 23-35). Out of His grace and mercy, He initiated a plan of salvation. He sent Moses to deliver His people from the Egyptians. After the deliverance, God renewed His covenant with them and called them His chosen ones.
