The Biblical narrative tells us:

1. Your body does not measure your worth

  • “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:7
  • We have worth, we have innate value, we are beautiful, because we are made by God.
  • “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” ~Psalm 139:13-14
  • TRUTH :: God sees our holiness and beauty in and through Jesus Christ

2. What you do with your body matters

  • "All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful.
  • “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything…
  • …Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?’ ~ 1 Cor. 6:12,19
  • The power that resurrected Jesus from death will also resurrect our bodies from death.
  • Jesus dying on the cross is not only for the salvation of your soul.
  • TRUTH :: Your body is a reflection of the glory, beauty, holiness of God

3. A beauty that is not of this world

  • Can you tell if a person is Christian just by looking at them?
  • “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” ~ Gal 5:22-23
  • TRUTH :: True beauty comes from your reflection of Christ-like characters

Therefore…

  1. Learn to be thankful for how God has created you
  2. Deliberately restrain your social media exposure
  3. Intentionally choose the people you surround yourself with
