I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. ~ Romans 12:1

Paul argues that we ought to live a life in holiness because it is the reasonable, rational, logical thing to do as we look in depth at what Jesus has done on the cross for us.

However, a life in holiness is not merely about DOING, it is even more about BEING.

Some of us might have a misconception that to live in holiness means forcing oneself to follow a list of dos and don’ts.

Yet, just like practicing any musical instrument, the intention of learning scales and drills is not in itself. Their purpose lies deeper, their power is “redirection”.

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh… if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law… The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. ~ Galatians 5:16-26
