Matthew 24:36-44; 25:1-13

What’s the biggest difficulty for us to live our lives faithfully in preparation for eternity?

“I have time, and I can do it later.”

That is the biggest lie that the devil wants us to believe in regards to our faith.  When we procrastinate on what God teaches us, we become lukewarm, hearers of the word without doing them.

Yet Jesus teaches us something different:

  • We don’t how much time we have left:
    • Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming…  be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.  (Matthew 24:42, 44)
  • We can’t procrastinate in areas of our faith:
    • The wise virgins were prepared all the time, before the bridegroom returns.  (Matthew 24:1-13)

Let us consider how we would live our lives if we were given 182 days to live:

  • What do you spend the most of your time on right now?
  • What would you eliminate from the list?
  • What would you add to the list?

In many ways, living a life ready to die is to be truly alive.  Living in a way that acknowledges we have limited time in our lives will allow us to maximize our life and live with no regrets, in this life and the next.
