Is God with us?

Galatians 4:4-5; Romans 5:6-8; 8:31-39

How is God with us when the situation tells us something different?
That must have been one of the questions the Israelites have during the time of Isaiah.
God through Isaiah reminds Israel that He is still with them, that He is on their side; while Israelites are eventually ran over by Babylon, Persia, Greek, then Rome.

Some of us may have that question at times: How do I know that God is with me when the situation tells me something different?

That God seems to be distant
That God seems to be indifferent
That God seems to be absent
That God seems to not care

How do I know that God is with me when the situation tells me something different?
The Apostle Paul’s answer to that question will probably be: “You don’t.”

Because what you are going through (your situation) is never an indicator of how much God loves you.

God’s love for you is revealed in what Christ has done for you (Romans 5:8), that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
That is the single most trustworthy evidence of God’s love for us
So when our life gets tough, when we don’t feel like it, we rest assured that God’s love for us has not changed. That God still loves us, and He is still with us.

Not only that, what you have been through (who you are) is never a determining factor of how much God loves you

The Apostle Paul notes that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Meaning God was with us before we had a chance to say we were with Him.
God loved us before we had an opportunity to love Him.

So we won’t be able to know whether God loves us by looking at ourselves or our situation; but the good news is that God loves us no matter what we have been through and what we are going through.
We know where we stand with God because He came to stand with us.
