MESSAGE SUMMARY

In the Bible, God did not only use the main characters, but also used different supporting roles to fulfill His plan. When God's time came, these supporting actors stepped onto the stage and acted out their assigned roles. In Genesis 24, a sidekick appeared. Through this old servant, God's plan in Abraham's life was eventually fulfilled.

ACT ONE (v.1-9)

  • Facing an almost impossible mission,  the old servant was not besieged by doubt
  • He was loyal to his master and embarked on an unknown path
  • This task is not just about Abraham, but about the fulfilling of God’s promise

ACT TWO (v.10-27)

  • Although facing an impossible mission, the servant did not give up
  • He asked God in prayer to show mercy to Abraham
  • He firmly clinged on the love and faithfulness of God

ACT THREE (v.28-60)

  • Eventually, he met Rebekah and her family
  • Facing the request of delaying Rebekah’s departure, the old servant remained unmoved
  • He has only one goal in his heart: to bring Rebekah back to his master’s home safely.

With God as the director of the story, we only need to be loyal to our assigned role.  Just as God used both the main characters and the sidekicks in Genesis, He is doing the same in Richmond and at Koinonia today.  We are not just spectators. God gives everyone a unique role in His Story.

Don’t be a spectator. Step up to what God has called you for.
