1 John 2:15-17, John 15:1-11

Christian Atheist: a person who claims to believe in God but lives as if He doesn’t exist.

Is there anything wrong with happy Christians living a happy life?

Is there anything wrong with Christians pursuing happiness through this equation?

World Equation: Better Possessions + Peaceful Circumstances + Thrilling Experiences + Right Relationships + Perfect Appearances = Happiness

God is not against happiness, or a happy life. But He is against a happy life that doesn’t work.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him… The world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:15, 17)

The world is passing away. It is temporary.

We cannot take what is temporary (the world) to satisfy what is meant for eternity (us).

God promises something better: Everlasting Joy.

Jesus’ Equation: Abide (Love from God) + Bear Fruit (Purpose from God) = Joy

How?

One way is to abide in His words.

  • Spend time to do devotion
  • Read out the scripture
  • Focus on one thought/ idea/ verse/ passage that stands out to you
  • Memorize it
  • Dialogue and pray to God
  • Most importantly: Come back to it throughout the day, continue to remain in the word

Abide in His words and His words will abide in You.
Abide in Him and He will abide in You.
Abide in His love and His love will abide in You.

Do you want to receive the Joy from God?
