Disciple

A disciple is not only a Christ’s follower who grows in Christ-likeness but also produces Christ-like disciples.

Spiritual parent

A spiritual parent is someone who is intentional about living out the mission of raising disciples who can make disciples.

1 Corinthians 4:15
For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Apostle Paul is passionate about his role not as a guide but as a spiritual father who has a very special relationship with the church.

1 Thessalonians 2:7-12
Apostle Paul is willing to sacrifice and labor so that their needs are fulfilled, rather than his own.

A spiritual parent goes beyond sharing the truths of God’s Word. He invests a depth of relationship and love. It’s this relationship that is at the heart of disciple-making.

Christ is living through Paul. And Paul has raised, and reproduced that same kind of life in Timothy.

We are called to be the agency of the birth of many disciples.

Prayer:
Jesus, you have called and invited all of your disciples to be a part of your Great Commission. You have designed each and every one of us to share your love, spread your Words, and multiply.

This is the mission that Jesus, you, left for us, and it is what we want to be found doing when you return. Please help us Lord to accomplish the mission.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
