God, can you give me a like?

Have you ever felt like God has ghosted you during a major life transition or decision? In the final week of our series, we looked at the story of King Ahab to uncover a deeper struggle: selective hearing and a hard heart. Ahab desperately wanted to wage war to reclaim a border city and completely made up his mind before ever consulting God. He gathered 400 "yes-men" prophets to validate his plans, locked away the one prophet who spoke the truth, and even wore a disguise to try to outsmart divine reality. Ultimately, a "random" arrow pierced the precise gap in his armor, leading to his self-willed destruction.

Ahab’s story may be closer to us than we think. We often build our own blueprints and only check in with God to get a thumbs up.

“Do not disturb”

God isn't silent in our lives, but have we already decided that no matter what God says, we won't do it? Have we already decided that we don't want God's input and that His voice doesn't matter?

While the Bible might not tell us every micro-detail of our daily schedules, God has spoken with much clarity on the big principles of our lives.

The reality is that God hasn't ghosted us; we have just put Him on "Do Not Disturb" so He won't interrupt the decisions we’ve already finalized.

Building on the Rock

Jesus concludes the Sermon on the Mount by warning that anyone who hears His words but chooses their own convenient shortcuts is a "fool" building their life on sand—a structure guaranteed to collapse when the storms hit. Following God’s way isn't a limitation; it is the only foundation sturdy enough to hold our future.

As you look ahead into your week, take a moment to pause:

  • Would you reflect on whether there is anything that you have already decided and surrender your will to God?

  • Would you trust that His will and plans for you are always good?

Would you stop resisting God’s voice and choose to build our lives on the Rock today?
