Because of its ceremonial content, most people think that the book of Leviticus is irrelevant to our lives.
However, Leviticus is in fact a continuation of the Exodus story. Its narration gave historical context and meaning to the Law.
Although many cultures have their own sacrificial rituals, only Israelites emphasized their relationship with God in their sacrificial ceremony. In addition, Israel’s emphases on the holiness of God and the moral standard of man were both unique among other nations.
The importance of Leviticus, therefore, is to show people how they should live under God’s covenant.
