Tentative start date for in-person worship: October 2021

Re-opening is a step of faith for the church

  • Will we be able to find a worship venue?
  • Will the congregation continue to attend?
  • Will there be enough servants?

The situation is comparable to the time when the Israelites were called to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land.  Their challenges:

  • Israelites population
  • Inexperienced in battle
  • City of Jericho and Canaanites
  • Crossing the Jordan River
  • Is God still trustworthy?
  • Moses has passed away

God’s calling to Joshua and the Israelites

  • “Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them.”
  • “Be strong and courageous.”

God’s promise:

  • Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Israelites had a choice to make, will they be fear-driven or promise-driven?
In the same way, we have to make a choice: are we driven by fear, or are we driven by promise?

One of our challenges today is to search for a suitable venue.  Our criteria for venue selection is as follows:

  • Congregation size 550 and growing
  • 3 services: Cantonese, English, youth
  • Karpos children ministry considerations: space/ safety/ hygiene
  • Enough parking spots
  • Within Richmond
  • Long term secure contract
  • Trusting relationship with the venue
  • Operation feasibility
  • Rental Cost
  • Availability

God’s miraculous providence to our church in venue allows us to prepare to reopen by October 2021 (tentative start date).  90% of our congregation indicated that they were available to worship on Saturday morning, therefore, our worship services will be held every Saturday morning.

God has always provided for our church in the past, and it’s the same today.  May we continue to follow Him in this journey.
